Here is a picture of grandma, grandpa, and Caeden in his room with the "garbage monster". It may not look like it, but it was very scarey. The garbage monster was in the closet at the time of the photo so is not visible on the photo.

A Super Weekend

Wayne and Caeden came for the weekend to hang out and give Val just a little taste of solitude. We were so happy to see them. The weekend just flew by and it was hard to see them leave again. The weekend was spent playing and playing some more. It was pretty frightening since there was a "garbage monster" in Caeden's closet. The garbage monster had all the features of a real person which were only visible to Caeden. But he described him in detail. The garbage monster took all of Caeden's toys and heaped them into one big garbage pile which were moved around countless numbers of times in Caeden's huge dump truck. In between moves we all had to hide under the covers while we took turns playing the monster. It was so much fun seeing his imagination at work.

It was a beautiful day here Saturday. So outside we went to play. Grandpa bought some pigeons for Caeden. They are called parlor tumblers. They are a special breed that are unable to fly. Instead they do summersaults on the ground. He really didn't want to hold the pigeon but did pet it. We clapped our hand and the pigeon did a few summersaults on the ground and he said that was really funny. I thought they would be fun for him as they are easy to handle. Just a little bit of "country living". Most of the time was spent on the reminant snow drift left in the yard. Out came the wheelbarrow which headed straight for the drift. Up and down, back and forth it went. Hundreds of tracks were left in it. Several rocks made several trips in that wheelbarrow around the frozen patch of tundra. Only until it got too cold to stay out was he tempted to come back in for some hot chocolate.

Once inside it was back to the garbage monster and of course the monster trucks. All this time we kept his dad busy updating the computer. Pretty good trade of time for us. Wayne and I did get a chance to spend an evening in Deadwood, just the two of us. I enjoy our time together. We had a great time trying to beat 3 card poker. It didn't treat us too bad as two 3 of a kinds were had by myself.

Yes, it was a super weekend. We just can't wait until we go to Parker for Christmas. It will be so good to all be together as a family. Nicole and John will be there too. I asked Caeden if he could just stay with us here and his Mommy and Daddy could just come here to visit him. He said " no, I have to go home because I miss my Mommy and I love baby Claire. I give her hugs and kiss her". Then he said, "but you can come to my house to visit and I will show you the garbage monster in my room". What a little man.

Thanksgiving

I can't believe I have actually created a blog! Yup, looks like a blog so far. Not so sure I will ever be able to find it again out there in cyberspace! Didn't even know what a blog was until our daughter-in-law Valerie started hers. Shortly after that we find our daughter Nicole and her fiance' John each have one. Can't be outdone by our own kids.

Thanksgiving is past for another year. We so wanted to spend it with our kids as they were all in our thoughts all day long (as they are every day). Thank you Valerie for your posting of your day as it brings us just a little closer or at least it seems. The pictures of our grandchildren are priceless. We sometimes check two or three times a day just to see if more of them have been posted! Those two little ones, Caeden and Claire, are the absolute joy of our lives. So even though Thanksgiving is past, we are thankful each and every day for our family. I just can't imagine life without family.

Our good friends from Sioux Falls, Dick and Kathy Thomas, were here for the weekend. We always have a great time with them! We spent the weekend in Deadwood, staying at the Mineral Palace. The red headed stepchild Lucy stayed with Aunt Marlys and Uncle Jim while Scardy Cat stayed home. Lucy loves to go for a sleepover. Scardy could care less. But now that Lucy is back home, Scardy is all curled up by her tummy while they both sleep. The horrid little creature loves the red headed stepchild too.

No pictures to post yet. Have to get Wayne and Val to show me how to get them on here.
